ST. CATHERINE OF ALEXANDRIA Patroness of Young Women, Philosophers, Preachers, Theologians, Wheelwrights, Millers, and Other Workingmen

From the tenth century onwards veneration for St. Catherine of Alexandria has been widespread in the Church of the East, and from the time of the Crusades this saint has been popular in the West, where many churches have been dedicated to her and her feast day kept with great solemnity, sometimes as a holy-day of obligation. She is listed as one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers of mankind among the saints in Heaven; she is the patroness of young women, philosophers, preachers, theologians, wheelwrights, millers, and other workingmen. She was said to have appeared with Our Lady to St. Dominic and to Blessed Reginald of Orleans; the Dominicans adopted her as their special protectress. Hers was one of the heavenly voices heard by St. Joan of Arc.

54 DAY ROSARY NOVENA

Origin and Method

This devotion, which the author has called the 'Rosary Novenas to Our Lady,' is of comparatively recent origin. In an apparition of Our Lady of Pompeii, which occurred in 1884 at Naples, in the house of Commander Agrelli, the heavenly Mother deigned to make known the manner in which she desires to be invoked.

For thirteen months Fortuna Agrelli, the daughter of the Commander, had endured dreadful sufferings and torturous cramps; she had been given up by the most celebrated physicians. On February 16, 1884, the afflicted girl and her relatives commenced a novena of Rosaries. The Queen of the Holy Rosary favored her with an apparition on March 3rd. Mary, sitting upon a high throne, surrounded by luminous figures, held the divine Child on her lap, and in her hand a Rosary. The Virgin Mother and the holy Infant were clad in goldembroidered garments. They were accompanied by St. Dominic and St. Catherine of Siena. The throne was profusely decorated with flowers; the beauty of Our Lady was marvelous.

ST. GERARD MAJELLA Patron of Mothers and Children

St. Gerard Majella, religious, is the patron of expectant mothers. He was born at Muro, Italy, in 1726 and joined the Redemptorists at the age of 23, becoming a professed lay brother in 1752. He served as sacristan, gardener, porter, infirmarian, and tailor. However, because of his great piety, extraordinary wisdom, and his gift of reading consciences, he was permitted to counsel communities of religious women.

This humble servant of God also had the faculties of levitation and bi-location associated with certain mystics. His charity, obedience, and selfless service as well as his ceaseless mortification for Christ, made him the perfect model of lay brothers. He was afflicted with tuberculosis and died in 1755 at the age of twenty-nine.
This great saint is invoked as a patron of expectant mothers as a result of a miracle effected through his prayers for a woman in labor.

ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI Patron of Animals and the Environment

St. Francis was born to a very wealthy merchant of Assissi in Italy in the year 1812. But unlike his rich companions, he had a soft-heart for the poor. His father disowned him for giving away all his possessions to the needy. Having become poor himself, he lived in a cave in the mountains of Assissi and would live a life of fasting and prayer. Francis preached the gospel and invited others to follow him. His crusade to spread God's love spread all over Europe. He founded the Order of Mendicant Friars or Franciscans. Its members have taken a vow of poverty, chastity, love and obedience.

ST. BLAISE Healer of those with throat ailments, Patron of Doctors and Veterinarians

On the feast of St. Blaise, February 3, the blessing of the throat takes place. Two candles are blessed, held slightly open and press between the throat as the prayer of blessing is said.Few facts are known about St. Blaise. He was a bishop of Armenia who was martyred under the reign of Licinius in the early fourth century. St. Blaise was born into a rich and noble family who raised him as a Christian. Then he became a bishop. According to tradition, he received a special message from Jesus to go to the hills during a persecution. Hunters discovered him in a cave surrounded by animals. St. Blaise was curing the ailments of these animals when discovered by the hunters. The hunters captured him due to the bounty on his head and brought him to the governor. On coming down the mountain, St. Blaise encountered a wolf who was about to kill a pig; he asked the wolf not to eat the pig because the pig belonged to an old woman. The wolf released the pig. Out of gratitude when St. Blaise was in prison, the woman brought him bread and candles. While in prison, his guard complained about pain on his throat. St. Blaise touched his throat with a candle and his ailment was miraculously cured. The governor ordered his execution. Because of what he did to his guard, St. Blaise became known as healer of those with throat ailments, and patron of doctors and veterinarians.

DIVINE MERCY NOVENA

Jesus asked that the Feast of the Divine Mercy be preceded by a Novena to the Divine Mercy which would begin on Good Friday. He gave St. Faustina an intention to pray for on each day of the Novena, saving for the last day the most difficult intention of all, the lukewarm and indifferent of whom He said:

"These souls cause Me more suffering than any others; it was from such souls that My soul felt the most revulsion in the Garden of Olives. It was on their account that I said: 'My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass Me by.' The last hope of salvation for them is to flee to My Mercy."

In her diary, St. Faustina wrote that Jesus told her:

"On each day of the novena you will bring to My heart a different group of souls and you will immerse them in this ocean of My mercy ... On each day you will beg My Father, on the strength of My passion, for the graces for these souls."

ST. JOSEPH

O St. Joseph whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the Throne of God, I place in you all my interests and desires. O St. Joseph do assist me by your powerful intercession and obtain for me from your Divine Son all spiritual blessings through Jesus Christ, Our Lord; so that having engaged here below your Heavenly power I may offer my thanksgiving and homage to the Loving of Fathers.
O St. Joseph, I never weary of contemplating you and Jesus asleep in your arms. I dare not approach you while He reposes near your heart. Press him in my name and kiss His fine Head for me, and ask Him to return the kiss when I draw my dying breath. St. Joseph, Patron of departing souls, pray for us. Amen.

Say for nine consecutive mornings for anything you may desire. It has seldom been known to fail.

ST. MARTIN DE PORRES Patron of Mexico, black people, hair stylists, innkeepers, the poor and social justice

St. Martin de Porres was born at Lima, Peru, in 1579. His father was a Spanish gentleman and his mother a colored freed-woman from Panama. At fifteen, he became a lay brother at the Dominican Friary at Lima and spent his whole life there as a barber, farm laborer, and infirmarian among other things. He was in charge of distributing the alms of his convent to the poor and became known throughout the city of Lima for his love and care for the needy.

Martin had a great desire to go off to some foreign mission and thus earn the palm of martyrdom. However, since this was not possible, he made a martyr out of his body, devoting himself to ceaseless and severe penances. In turn, God endowed him with many graces and wondrous gifts, such as, aerial flights and bi-location (this explains why his name is invoked by travelers in long distance flights or voyages in planes or ships).

ST. ANTHONY DE PADUA Patron of Lost Things

(To be prayed everyday during the Novena) Holy Saint Anthony, gentlest of Saints, your love for God and charity for His creatures made you worthy when on earth, to possess miraculous power. Miracles waited on your word, which you were ever ready to speak for those in trouble or in distressed. Encourage by this thought, we implore of you to obtain for us(mention the request.

The answer to our prayer may require a miracle, even so, you are the saints of miracles. O gentle and loving Saint Anthony whose heart was ever full of human sympathy, whisper our petition into the ears of the sweet infant Jesus, who loved to be folded in your arms, and the gratitude of our hearts will ever be yours.

ST. JEAN MARIE VIANNEY...The Cure of Ars. Patron Saint of Parish Priests and Confessors

Day 1
We have not deserved to pray - but God, in his goodness, has permitted us to speak with Him.- St. Jean Vianney, the Cure of Ars.

Saint Jean Marie Vianney you were born of a deeply religious mother; from her you received the Holy Faith; you learned to love God and to pray. At a young age, you were seen kneeling in the front of the statue of Mary. Your soul was supernaturally carried towards the things on High. Despite the high cost, you answered your vocation! Against many obstacles and contradictions, you had to fight and suffer to become the perfect priest which you were. But your deep spirit of faith supported you in all these battles. .O most holy Saint John Vianney, you were a priest who was outstanding in pastoral zeal. May priests today be filled with that zeal, faithful to their calling, refreshed in their labors by the Holy Spirit, supported by their fellow workers and appreciated by those whose lives they touch. Dear Curé of Ars, pray for us, but especially for all priests! Holy Priest of Ars, I have confidence in your intercession. Pray for me during this novena especially for ... (mention silently your special intentions).
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be

Day 2
When we pray with attention, with humility of mind and of heart, we quit the earth, we rise to Heaven, we penetrate the Bosom of God, we go and converse with the angels and the saints. - St. Jean Vianney

Saint Jean Marie Vianney, what confidence the people had in your prayers! You could not leave your old rectory or your humble church without being surrounded by imploring souls, who appealed to you as they would have appealed to Jesus Himself during His earthly life. And you, O good Saint, gave them hope by your words, which were full of love for God.You, who had always counted entirely on the heart of God, obtain for me a deep filial trust in His Providence. As the hope of divine goods fills my heart, give me courage and help me to always obey the Commandments of God.O most holy Saint John Vianney, you were a priest who was outstanding in pastoral zeal. May priests today be filled with that zeal, faithful to their calling, refreshed in their labors by the Holy Spirit, supported by their fellow workers and appreciated by those whose lives they touch. Dear Curé of Ars, pray for us, but especially for all priests!Holy Priest of Ars, I have confidence in your intercession. Pray for me during this novena especially for ... (mention silently your special intentions).
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be.

Day 3
How good is the Good God! The angels sin, and are cast into hell. Man sins, and God promises him a Deliverer. What have we done to deserve this favor? - St. Jean Vianney

Saint Jean Mary Vianney, you were so adamant against sin, yet so sympathetic and so ready to welcome the sinner. I come to you today as if you were still alive, as if I were kneeling at your feet and you could hear me. Bend towards me, listen to the repentant confidence for the weaknesses and miserable deeds of mine.Priest of the Lord, inexhaustible Confessor, obtain for me the horror for sin. You wanted us First to avoid the occasion of sin. I want totake your advice and make the resolution to break bad habits and to avoid the dangerous occasions of sin. Help me today to examine my conscience.O most holy Saint John Vianney, you were a priest who was outstanding in pastoral zeal. (mention silently your special intentions).
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be.

Day 4
It is a beautiful thought, my children, that we have a sacrament that heals the wounds of our souls! - St. Jean Vianney

O Holy Priest of Ars, you knew how important was a good confession for the Christian life. It was to procure the happy fruits of millions of souls that you agreed to be in an uncomfortable confessional, which was like a prison, up to 15 to 16 hours on certain days.I will try to develop the habit of frequent confession, to prepare properly each time and to have always regret for my sins, so that the grace of final perseverance but also the sanctification of my soul will be assured. Ask this grace for me.O most holy Saint John Vianney, you were a priest who was outstanding in pastoral zeal. Pray for me during this novena especially for... (mention silently your special intentions).
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be.

Day 5
When we have just received communion, if we were asked what are we taking away to our homes, we might answer, "I am taking away Heaven!" - St. Jean Vianney

O Holy Priest of Ars, whose only comfort in this world was the real presence of Jesus in the tabernacle, was it not your great joy to distribute the Eucharist to the pilgrims who visited you? You refused Communion to the souls who refused to reform but to souls of goodwill you opened wide the doors of the Eucharistic Feast. You, who each day at Holy Mass received Holy Communion with great love, give me some of your fervor. With freedom from mortal sin, obtain for me a sincere desire to profit from receiving Holy Communion. O most holy Saint John Vianney, you were a priest who was outstanding in pastoral zeal. Pray for me during this novena especially for... (mention silently your special intentions).
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be.

Day 6
In Heaven, faith and hope will exist no more for the mist which obscures our reason will be dispelled...But love; oh we shall be inebriated with it! we shall be drowned, lost in that ocen of divine love, annihilated in that immense charity of the Heart of Jesus! so that charity is a foretaste of Heaven.- St. Jean Vianney

Saint Jean Marie Baptist Vianney because of your love of God you showed great charity towards your neighbor. You could not preach on the Love of God without burning tears of love. During your last years, it seemed as though you could not talk about any thing else or live for anything else. Thus you sacrificed yourself to your neighbor by consoling, absolving and sanctifying them to the limits of your strength.Your charity inspires me to greater love of God, a love which is shown more by acts then by words. Help me to love my neighbor generously as Christ loves them.O most holy Saint John Vianney, you were a priest who was outstanding in pastoral zeal.
Pray for me during this novena especially for... (mention silently your special intentions).
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be.

Day 7
See, my children, if we really wish to be saved, we must determine, once and for all, to labor in earnest for our salvation; our soul is like a garden in which the weeds are ever ready to choke the good plants and flowers that have been sown in it.- St. Jean Vianney

O Holy Priest of Ars, the infamous attacks of the devil which you had to suffer and the trials which disheartened you by fatigue would not make you give up the sublime task of converting souls. The devil came to you for many years to disturb your short rest but you won because of mortification and prayers.Powerful protector, you know the temptor's desire to harm my baptized and believing soul. He would have me sin, by rejecting the Holy Sacraments and the life of virtue. But good Saint of Ars dispel from me the traces of the enemyO most holy Saint John Vianney, you were a priest who was outstanding in pastoral zeal. Pray for me during this novena especially for... (mention silently your special intentions).
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be.

Day 8
Three things are wanted to preserve purity - the presence of God, prayer and the Sacraments.- St. Jean Vianney

O Holy Priest of Ars, a witness of your life made this magnificent praise of you:'We would have taken him for an angel in a mortal body."You so edified others: the modesty and the exquisite purity radiated from your body. With such charm and with such enthusiasm you preached to others about these beautiful virtues which you said resembled the perfume of a vineyard in bloom. Please I beg you to join your entreaties to those of Mary Immaculate and Saint Philomena in order that I guard always, as God asks me, the purity of my heart. You, who have directed so many souls towards the heights of virtue, defend me in temptations and obtain for me the strength to conquer them. O most holy Saint John Vianney, you were a priest who was outstanding in pastoral zeal. Pray for me during this novena especially for... (mention silently your special intentions).
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be.

Day 9
To love the good God with our whole heart is to prefer Him to everything...to love nothing that is incompatible with the love or God. To love the good God with our whole mind is to think of Him often, and to make it our principle study to know Him well...To love the good God with all our strength. is to employ our possessions, our health, and our talents, in serving Him and glorifying Him. It is to refer all our actions to Him, as our last end.- St. Jean Vianney

O Holy Priest of Ars, your precious remains are contained in a magnificent reliquary, the donation from the priests of France. But this earthly glory is only a very pale image of the unspeakable glory which you are enjoying with God. During the time you were on earth, you used to repeat in your dejected hours, 'one will rest in the other life." It is done, you are in eternal peace, and eternal happiness.I desire to follow you one day. Until then, I hear you saying to me:"You should work and fight as long as you are in the world."Teach me then to work for the salvation of my soul, to spread the good news and good example and to do good towards those around me in order that I will receive the happiness of the Elect with you. O most holy Saint John Vianney, you were a priest who was outstanding in pastoral zeal. Pray for me during this novena especially for... (mention silently your special intentions).
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be.

ST. PHILOMENA...Healer of Blood Related Illnesses (Diabetes, Anemia, Leukemia...)

In 1802, the remains of a young woman were found in the catacombs of St. Priscilla at the Via Salaria, Italy. It was covered by stones, the symbols on which indicated that the body was a martyr named St. Philomena. The vial containing dry blood (as it was custom to bury a sample of the blood of the martyrs) and the bones were exhumed, catalogued, and effectively forgotten since there was so little known about the person.

(The sample of her blood made her the intercessors of those with blood related problems).

ST. THERESE OF THE CHILD JESUS Patron of France, Russia and Missionaries

Father Putigan, a Jesuit, began the Novena to Saint Theresa of the Child Jesus on December 3, 1925, asking the glorious Saint for one great favor. For nine days he recited the "Glory be to the Father" twenty-four times thanking the Holy Trinity for the favors and Graces showered on Saint Theresa during the twenty-four years of her life on earth.

The priest asked Saint Theresa, that as a sign that his novena was heard he would receive from someone a freshly plucked rose. On the third day of the novena, an unknown person sought out Father Putigan and presented him with a beautiful rose.Father Putigan began the second novena on December 24 of the same year, and as a sign, asked for a white rose. On the fourth day of this novena one of the Sister-nurses brought him a white rose saying: "Saint Theresa sent you this."

PRAYER REVEALED BY OUR LADY To the Venerable Fr. Cyrill O.C.D.

O Infant Jesus, I have recourse to You and ask You through the intercession of Your Holy Mother to help me in my need, (you can mention it here) for I firmly believe that Your divinity can help me. I hope, in complete trust to obtain Your holy grace. I love You with all my heart and with all the strength of my soul. I am truly sorry for all my sins, and beg You, O good Jesus, to give me the strength to conquer them. I shall never offend you and I am ready to suffer rather than to cause You pain. From now on I want to serve You with complete faithfulness and for love of You, O Divine child, I will love my neighbor as well as myself. Omnipotent Child, Lord Jesus, again I implore You, help me in this need of mine (mention it). Grant me the grace of possessing You eternally, with Mary and Joseph and of adoring You with the holy angels in Your heavenly court. Amen.

PRAYER TO THE CHILD JESUS Recited every evening in the Sanctuary of Arenzano

O Holy Child Jesus, who shed Your blessings on whoever invokes Your name, look kindly on us who kneel humbly before Your holy Image, and hear our prayers. We commend to Your mercy the many poor and needy people who trust in Your Divine Heart. Lay Your all powerful hand upon them and help them in their needs. Lay Your hand upon the sick, to cure them and sanctify their suffering; upon those in distress, to console them; upon sinners, to draw them into the light of your divine grace; upon all those who, stricken with grief and suffering, turn trustingly to You for loving help. Lay Your hand also upon all of us and give us Your blessing. O little King, grant the treasures of Your divine mercy to all the world, and keep us now and always in the grace of your love! Amen.

THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS

Those who promote this devotion shall have their names written in My Heart, never to be forgotten...

First Day Come to me

Scripture Reading [Mt. 11:20-30] Come to Me, all who are weary and find life burdensome, and I will refresh you. Take My yoke upon your shoulders and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble of Heart. Your souls will find rest, for My yoke is easy and My burden light

Prayer With open arms, O Lord, You continue to embrace the universe. I know I am a small part of that universe. Yet in Your eyes I am also a very important part. Lord, it is by my surrendering to You and You are able to bring me closer to Your Heart - the source of all love, compassion and kindness.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us!

Second Day Let the Children Come

Scripture Reading [Lk. 18:15-17] "They brought children to be touched by Him. When the disciples saw this, they scolded them. But Jesus said: 'Let the children com to Me. Do not discourage them. The Kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Trust Me when I tell you that whoever does not accept the Kingdom of God as a child will not enter it'."

Prayer O Lord, we are orphans-lost and alone. But with you we are saved. As I come to you today, Lord, let me approach You as a child - enthused by Your love of life, in need of guidance and support. Jesus protect the children of the world, Give me the grace to be an example of Your love to them.

Third Day Do not be afraid

Scripture Reading [Mk. 5:36-47] "Jesus said to the synagogue officials: 'Do not be afraid, just have faith' ...then he entered the room where the dead child was. He took the child by the hand and said: 'Little girl, I say to you, arise!' The girl arose immediately and they all were utterly astounded."

Prayer Lord, allow your healing hand to heal me. Touch my soul with Your compassion for others. Touch my heart with Your courage and infinite love for all. Touch my mind with Your wisdom, that my mouth may always proclaim Your praise. Bring me health in body and spirit that I may serve You with all my strength.

Fourth Day I Know My Sheep

Scripture Reading [Jn. 10:10-14] "I came that they may have life and have it to the full. I am the Good Shepherd: the Good Shepherd lays down His life for His sheep... I know My sheep and My sheep know Me."

Prayer Lord, it is written that You care especially for the lost sheep in this world. Today I place into Your hands someone I care about deeply (mention a particular person...). To be lost is terrible feeling, to be unknown and unsure is to live in fear. With you we have nothing to fear. Let this day, Lord, be another step closer to Your heart for all of us.

Fifth Day I Am the Bread of Life

Scripture Reading [Jn. 6:51] "I Myself am the living bread come down from heaven. If anyone eats this bread he shall live forever: the bread I will give is My flesh, for the life of the world."

Prayer O Lord, Your generosity knows no limits! Your burning desire to be one with us knows no bounds! You gave of Yourself in Bethlehem, in Galilee, at Calvary. In the gift of our Eucharist You continue to give of Yourself day in and day out. Today I ask You, Lord, to forgive my selfishness, my pettiness, my sins. Help me live like You lived - a life lived for others, filled with the fullness of grace.

Personal Meditation Pause for Personal Meditation... Our Father... Hail Mary.. Glory Be...

Sixth Day Your Will be done

Scripture Reading [Mt. 26:37-39] "Jesus said to His disciples: 'My heart is nearly broken with sorrow. Remain here and stay awake with Me.' He advanced a little and fell prostrate in prayer. 'My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass Me by. Still, Your will be done, not mine."

Prayer O Lord, You were no stranger to sorrow, to the loss of family and dear friends. You even knew the fear of death. Why, Lord, did you face such trials? Was it so You could understand me in my times of trial? Lord, I offer You my suffering today; do with it as You will, for it is a powerful gift. It is Yours, Lord; let it be my way of saying "I love You."

Seventh Day They Came to Jesus

Scripture Reading [Jn. 19:33-34] "When they came to Jesus and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs. One of the soldiers pierced His side with a lance, and immediately blood and water flowed out."

Prayer Lord, it is only because of the foolishness of Your cross that life makes sense. You abandoned Your own life to teach me what really matters. How I strive after foolish things and use people rather than love people. You died the shameful death on the cross to teach us the joyful lesson in life. Today, Lord, give me the courage to love what is important and to forsake all that is self-serving and deceitful.

Eight Day My Lord and My God

Scripture Reading [Jn. 20:26-28] "Jesus came and stood before the disciples. 'Peace be with you,' He said; then to Thomas: 'Take your finger and examine My hands. Put your hand into My side. Do not persist in your unbelief, but believe!' Thomas responded: 'My Lord and My God'."

Prayer Lord, if only we believed fully in You. Our Holy Father's motto is 'I am all Yours.' Help me believe that You are every answer to every problem, that You are everywhere to guide, strengthen, encourage and lead. Yes, I believe in You, but my faith is often weak. In times of trial I doubt You and in times of joy I forget You. In the patience of Your Heart, Lord, continue to reveal Yourself to me everywhere.

Ninth Day He Shall Dwell with Them

Scripture Reading [Rev. 21:1-4] "Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth... This is God's dwelling among people. He shall dwell with them and they shall be His people and he shall be their God who is always with them. He shall wipe every tear from their eyes, and there shall be no more death or mourning, crying or pain, for the former world has passed away."

Prayer O Lord, how often I wonder where life will lead. Where am I going - how will it end? Life ends where life began - with You, Lord. You said of Yourself: "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end;." I am Yours, Lord - yesterday, today and forever. I am Yours. Lord forgive my past, bring light and peace to my present, and prepare me with a generous heart for the future. I know you will be there for me, My Lord and My God.

Merciful Jesus, I consecrate myself today and always to Your Most Sacred Heart - make my heart like Your heart.

PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART

I. O my Jesus, You said "verily I say to You, ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened to you", behold I knock, I seek and I ask for the grace of...
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be to the Father. Sacred Heart of Jesus I put all my trust in Thee.

II. O my Jesus, You said, "verily I say to You, whatsoever you shall ask the Father in My name, He will give it to you", behold in your name I ask the Father for the grace of...
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be to the Father. Sacred Heart of Jesus I put all my trust in Thee.

III. O my Jesus, You said, "verily I say to You, heaven and earth shall pass away but My words shall not pass away", behold I encouraged by your infallible words, now ask for the grace of...
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be to the Father. Sacred Heart of Jesus I put all my trust in Thee.

O sacred Heart of Jesus, to whom one thing alone is impossible, namely, not to have compassion on the afflicted, have pity on us miserable sinners and grant us the grace which we ask of Thee through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, your and our tender Mother. Say the Salve Regina (Hail Holy Queen) and add, St. Joseph, foster father of Jesus, pray for us.

1ST DAY
Beloved St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you have had the signs of the Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ on your body. You have carried this stigmata for everyone, enduring both the physical and mental sufferings that racked your soul and body in a continual sacrifice. We beg you to pray for us, so that we will be able to accept both the little and the larger crosses we too must bear during our life on earth and to offer these sufferings to God, assuring us a place with him in Eternal Life.“It is to your advantage to commit yourself to the sufferings that Jesus will send to you. Jesus cannot tolerate seeing you afflicted and he will come to you and comfort you, blessing you with many graces for your soul”. Padre Pio

PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART

2nd DAY
Saint Pio of Pietrelcina, together with Our Lord Jesus Christ, you’ve been able to withstand the temptations of the Devil. You suffered the beatings and the oppression of the demon of hell, who wanted to have you abandon your journey of holiness. We beg you to pray for us so that, with your help and the help of all of the Heavenly Kingdom, we will be able to find the strength to set sin aside and to persevere in our faith until the day of our death.“Have courage and do not fear the assaults of the Devil. Remember this forever; it is a healthy sign if the devil shouts and roars around your conscience, since this shows that he is not inside your will”. Padre Pio

PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART

3rd DAY
Virtuous St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you love Our Holy Mother very much and have received daily graces and consolations from her. Please, we beg you to pray to the Holy Mother for us. Place in her hands the sorrow for our sins and our prayers of reparation, so that, as at Cana of Galilee, her Son says ‘yes’ to His Mother and our name may be written in the Book of Eternal Life.“Mary has to be the star that illuminates your path and she will show you the secure way to go to the Celestial Father. She will be an anchor to which you must cling in the hour of temptation”. Padre Pio

PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART

4th DAY
Chaste St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you loved your Guardian Angel, who served you well as your guide and as a defender and messenger. The Angels brought the prayers of your spiritual children to you. We beg you to pray for us, so that we may learn to call on our Guardian Angel who is always ready to guide us to what is good and to avoid falling into sinful actions.“Invoke your Guardian Angel, who will enlighten you and guide you. God has given him to you for your protection, therefore, you should use him accordingly”. Padre Pio

PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART

5th DAY
Prudent St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you have had a great devotion for the Souls in Purgatory for whom you have offered yourself as a victim to remit their punishments. Please pray for us and ask God to send us the same interest, compassion and love that you have for these souls. In this way, we will also contribute to reducing their suffering and, with our sacrifices and prayers, win for them their necessary Indulgences.“My God, I beg you; let me bear the punishments that have been prepared for sinners and the souls in Purgatory. Multiply these punishments for me, so that you may forgive and save the sinners and free their souls from purgatory”. Padre Pio

PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART

6th DAY
Obedient St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you have loved the sick more than yourself, because you were able to see Jesus in them. You have performed many miracles by healing patients in the name of Jesus and thereby giving them peace of mind. We beg you to pray for us, so that sick patients, through the intercession of Mary, can be healed and their bodies restored so that they may benefit from the Holy Spirit and, therefore, thank and praise God forever.“If I knew that a person was afflicted in his mind, body or soul, I would beg God to set him free of his affliction. I would gladly accept the transfer of his affliction to myself, so that he may be saved, and I would ask that he benefit from the fruits of these sufferings... if the Lord would allow me to do it”. Padre Pio

PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART

7th DAY
Blessed St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you have worked in “God’s Plan for Salvation”, by offering your sufferings to free sinners from the chains of the Devil. We beg you to pray for us, so that unbelievers will be converted to the faith, that all sinners will repent in their hearts and that those with lukewarm hearts will find renewed enthusiasm for a Christian life. Finally, pray for all those who are faithful, so that they will persevere on their way to salvation.“ If the people of the World could only see the beauty of ones soul when it is in the grace of God, all sinners and unbelievers of this world would be instantly converted”. Padre Pio

PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART

8th DAY
Pure St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you experienced great love for your spiritual children and have helped them by purchasing them for Christ with the giving of your blood. Please grant us, who have not met you personally, the opportunity to be considered your spiritual children. In this way, with your protection, guidance and strength, you will obtain for us a special blessing from God, so that we may meet Him on the day of our death at the gates of Heaven.“It would be most fulfilling, if God would grant me just one wish (if it were possible); that He would say, “Enter Heaven!” This is my one true wish; “That God would take me to Heaven at the same time that the last of my children and the last of the people who submitted to my priestly care have entered”. Padre Pio

PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART

9th DAY
Humble St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you who loved the Roman Catholic Church, pray for us. May the Master send workers to the harvest and give them the strength and knowledge needed to be children of God. Pray that Our Holy Lady will unite Christian people everywhere, comforting all of them in one great house of the Lord, the lighthouse of our salvation in the storm of life... just as a lighthouse is a beacon for safe return when there is a storm at sea.“You must always keep yourself on the straight and narrow path in the Holy Catholic Church because She is the only Bride of Christ and can bring you peace. She alone possesses Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, who is the true Prince of Peace”. Padre Pio

ST. JUDE Patron Saint of Hopeless Cases

Most Holy apostle St. Jude, faithful friend and servant of Jesus. The name of the traitor who delivered thy beloved Master into the hands of His enemies, has caused thee to be forgotten by many. But the church honors and invokes thee universally, as the patron of hopeless cases, of things despaired of.

Come to my assistance in this great need, that I may receive the consolation and succor of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations and sufferings particularly (mention your petition here) and that I may bless God with thee and all the elect throughout eternity. I promise thee, O St. Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favor and I will never cease to honor thee as my special and powerful patron and do all in my power to encourage devotion to thee, Amen.

NOVENA TO ACHIEVE PROSPERITY AND WELL-BEING

INTRODUCTION

We offer you this Novena to Achieve Prosperity and Well-Being. It is focused on God's word, with short commentaries and reflections to help you understand what prosperity is all about and what should be the content of our petitions.

In praying this novena, we should have in our minds the advice of St. Pio, referring to the Divine Providence:
"We should always be disposed to acknowledge, in all events of life, the wise order of the Divine Providence. We adore Him and we pray that our own will always will be molded by God's design so that we can glorify the Heavenly Father".
We recognize God's will in the process of prosperity and poverty. We discover the hand of God in all these movements. We work and pray as if everything depends on God, leaving only our desire for prosperity that does not block our entrance to eternal life. - Fr. Tim Melliza, SSP
