PRAYER OF THE TAX COLLECTOR

Upon waking up in the morning, kneel and say the following prayer:
"God, be merciful to me a sinner".


In the silence of your heart, try to stand before God with trust, acknowledging your sinfulness such as God allows you to see. Sins which come to your mind or temptations which torment you will surface.


"Lord this is only one sin, but I am capable of committing every conceivable kind of sin if You do not prevent me from it".


Recall the 7 capital sins and the Ten Commandments.


"Lord, I do not understand Your love nor Your desire to remain in such a wretched vessel and that You want to come to such a great sinner. Thank You for this. I have only my sins but You love me Lord, thank you".
